There Is Another Path for Security Professionals

Many talented security technicians spend their careers working under the same basic model: report to work, receive a service ticket, complete an installation, clock the hours and move on to the next job.

You can spend years developing technical expertise and building relationships with customers, yet your financial future may still depend almost entirely on the hours you work.

We believe experienced security professionals should have another opportunity.

Security Tekton is designed to help qualified technicians move beyond simply working service calls and begin building a portfolio of customers and managed security services they can develop over time.

That means developing relationships. Learning your customers' facilities. Maintaining their systems. Providing additional solutions as their needs change. Managing recurring services. And becoming the professional they call when they need help.

What Is Security Tekton?

Security Tekton is Avenger Security's partner program for qualified technicians, integrators and security professionals who want to build and manage their own client portfolio while having the resources of an established security organization behind them.

It is closer to an owner-operator or professional broker relationship than a traditional hourly technician position.

You develop and manage client relationships. You identify opportunities. You provide approved solutions and services. You help determine what your customer needs and how those services should be packaged.

Behind you is Avenger Security's operational infrastructure, industry relationships, monitoring resources, managed platforms, technical experience and business support.

Build Something You Can Grow

Security is increasingly a managed-service business.

Burglar alarm monitoring, fire alarm monitoring, cloud access control, managed video surveillance, mobile applications, cellular communications, remote administration and other connected security technologies can create ongoing service relationships with customers.

Under the traditional technician model, you may install those systems without participating meaningfully in the long-term value of the customer relationship.

Security Tekton is designed differently.

Build a portfolio — not just a paycheck.

The objective is to develop customers who know you, trust you and continue relying on you to manage their security and life-safety solutions.

Being a good technician does not automatically give you everything required to operate a security business. Security Tekton helps bridge that gap.

Existing Service Opportunities

Where Avenger Security has customer demand or coverage needs, qualified Security Tekton partners may have opportunities to perform service and begin developing relationships in their market.

A Wholesale Model Designed for Independent Growth

Security Tekton gives approved partners access to qualifying equipment, platforms and services at partner or wholesale pricing.

Partners can then develop solutions for their customers and establish customer pricing in accordance with applicable program agreements, laws, licensing requirements and manufacturer restrictions.

That creates an opportunity for the partner to earn the difference between applicable costs and the price of the products and services they provide to their clients.

Some customer relationships may be small. Others may involve multiple buildings, doors, cameras, alarm systems or managed applications. Every portfolio is different.

The goal is not to chase a particular size account. The goal is to build strong, profitable relationships and take care of those customers for the long term.

Recurring Revenue Changes the Equation

If your entire income depends on completing another installation, you have to continue selling your time in order to earn.

Managed security services create a different opportunity.

A portfolio can include recurring services such as:

  • Burglar alarm monitoring
  • Commercial fire alarm monitoring
  • Cellular alarm communications
  • Connected security applications
  • Managed access control
  • Cloud access control
  • Managed video surveillance
  • Cloud video storage
  • Remote video services
  • Software and platform subscriptions
  • Maintenance and service programs
  • Other approved managed security services

As partners build and retain customers using these services, recurring service margins can become an increasingly important component of the portfolio.

Actual results vary. Security Tekton and Avenger Security do not guarantee customer volume, recurring revenue, profitability, territory performance or income.

Think Beyond the Traditional Technician Model

Traditional Technician Security Tekton Partner
Primarily earns based on hours worked Can develop both project and recurring service opportunities
Receives assigned service calls Develops and manages a portfolio of customers
Often sees a different customer every day Builds long-term customer relationships
Limited influence over pricing and solutions Participates in designing, pricing and managing approved solutions
May install recurring services for someone else Opportunity to participate in qualifying recurring service margins
Career growth depends heavily on employer structure Portfolio growth can create another path for long-term development

You Don't Need to Know Every System Today

Security is an enormous industry.

A technician who has spent years working on intrusion systems may not have extensive experience with access control. An access-control technician may want to learn burglar alarms. A fire alarm professional may want to expand into security systems, cloud platforms or managed video.

Security Tekton is intended to bring qualified professionals into an environment where they can continue developing.

We can help qualified partners understand new technologies, learn supported platforms and work toward appropriate licensing and qualifications for additional disciplines.

We are not expecting one technician to know everything. We are looking for professionals who know how to learn, know how to take responsibility and care about the quality of the work they put their name on.

Solutions Security Tekton Partners May Support

Depending on licensing, experience, program approval, manufacturer requirements and geographic location, opportunities may include:

  • Commercial burglar alarm systems
  • Residential security systems
  • UL-listed professional alarm monitoring
  • Commercial fire alarm monitoring
  • Fire alarm systems and service
  • Cloud-managed access control
  • Door and gate access control
  • Mobile credential solutions
  • Video surveillance
  • Cloud-managed video
  • Video analytics
  • Remote video monitoring
  • Security system takeovers
  • System upgrades and expansions
  • Inspection and service opportunities
  • Preventative maintenance
  • Integrated commercial security solutions

The Most Important Part Is the Relationship

The Security Tekton model exists because we believe the person taking care of the customer should have a direct interest in the long-term success of that relationship.

A good partner learns the customer's facility.

You learn where equipment is located. How the wiring was installed. How devices were terminated. What problems occurred previously. Which employees manage the system. What matters to the business. What the customer likes and what frustrates them.

That knowledge has value.

When a customer calls three years from now, they should not have to explain their entire security system to someone new.

They should be able to call the professional who knows their site.

The better you take care of the customer, the stronger your portfolio becomes.

Who Makes a Good Security Tekton Partner?

Responsible

If you tell a customer you are going to do something, they should be able to depend on you to do it.

Reliable

Security and life-safety systems require consistency, communication and follow-through.

Experienced

You should have meaningful technical experience in security, fire alarm, low-voltage, access control, video, networking or a related discipline.

Entrepreneurial

You want to build something of your own instead of spending your entire career waiting for your next assignment.

Customer Focused

You understand that the installation is only the beginning of a long-term professional relationship.

Willing to Learn

Technologies, codes, applications and customer needs change. Strong partners keep learning.

Build Your Local Market

Security is ultimately a local relationship business.

Avenger Security currently supports customers and security solutions across Texas, including Austin, Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Waco, Temple, Killeen, College Station and surrounding communities.

We also encounter service needs in markets where additional qualified technicians and partners are needed.

When appropriate, Security Tekton partners may have an opportunity to assist with existing service needs while developing additional customers and relationships within their local market.

Territory availability, leads, projects and customer assignments are not guaranteed and remain subject to program requirements and customer needs.

We Help You Get Found

Building a portfolio requires more than being technically good. Customers also have to know you exist.

Avenger Security has practical experience developing security websites, Shopify pages, service content, search-engine visibility, local listings and digital marketing.

Security Tekton partners can receive guidance in areas such as:

  • Local website development
  • Shopify website strategy
  • Search engine optimization
  • Local service pages
  • Google and local business visibility
  • Service descriptions
  • Proposal development
  • Customer-facing educational content
  • Local-market positioning
  • Building a recognizable professional presence

Our goal is not simply to give you access to technology. We want qualified partners to learn how to build an actual business around the technology.

Partnership Comes With Responsibility

Security Tekton provides access to professional resources, customer opportunities, pricing, systems, suppliers, technical information and business methods.

For that reason, applicants should expect an onboarding and qualification process.

Requirements may include:

  • Relevant professional or technical experience
  • Verification of applicable licensing
  • Obtaining additional licensing where required
  • Applicable insurance coverage
  • Professional conduct standards
  • Execution of a Security Tekton Partner Agreement
  • Execution of a confidentiality / non-disclosure agreement
  • Compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Compliance with manufacturer and platform requirements
  • Proper handling of customer information
  • Professional representation of supported Avenger Security services

Complete program terms, compensation arrangements, client-account provisions, confidentiality requirements and other responsibilities are provided to qualified applicants as part of the onboarding process.

Security Tekton Partner Account

Approved participants maintain an individual Security Tekton partner account.

The current partner account fee is $10 per month.

The account fee helps offset administrative and infrastructure expenses associated with maintaining an active partner account, including applicable individual central-station account resources and receiver configuration.

The fee is intentionally modest.

Security Tekton is not designed around charging technicians large upfront fees to participate. We want to work with serious, active professionals who intend to develop customers and use the resources available through the program.
