The Hager BB1279 ETW-8 is a commercial full-mortise, standard-weight ball bearing hinge with concealed electric through-wire power transfer for access-control and electrified door hardware applications. The ETW-8 configuration provides eight continuous conductors through the hinge, allowing low-voltage power and control wiring to pass from the frame into the door without an exposed door cord.

8-Wire Power Transfer for Access Control

The ETW-8 modification provides eight concealed conductors through the hinge barrel. This gives installers additional conductor capacity for compatible electrified locks, electrified trim, latch-retraction hardware, request-to-exit devices, door monitoring, signaling and other low-voltage access-control functions.

An electrified hinge keeps the power-transfer wiring concealed between the frame and door, providing a cleaner finished installation than an exposed armored door loop. Hager recommends electrically modified hinges be installed in the center hinge location. Always verify the connected hardware's voltage, current draw and conductor requirements before installation.
